I Will Make
You Happy

Finnish stones and happiness

Two wonderful things. We make the connection ourselves.

Finnish stones and happiness have little inherent connection. We chose to use stones as symbols, physical objects for exercises and material for the imagination. You can look at a stone, feel it or imagine it. The focus is on your own experience.

We use checked facts about stones. The parallels we draw are metaphors we have created, and you can give them your own meaning.

Gneiss

The stone fact

Gneiss is a rock with a directional mineral structure that can form alternating bands. It is one of Finland’s common rock types.

A question for you

The bands can be an image for different parts of life existing alongside one another. Where do you want more structure, and where more freedom?

Rose quartz

The stone fact

Rose quartz is the pink variety of quartz. In Finland it has been obtained from, for example, the Kaatiala pegmatite quarry in Kuortane. Rose quartz is a variety of a mineral; gneiss is a rock type.

A question for you

You can give the pink colour a meaning of your own. If it suggests kindness to you, what practical act would be kind to yourself today?

Spectrolite

The stone fact

Spectrolite is a trade name for iridescent labradorite feldspar, found in Ylämaa. Its play of colour comes from light interference in thin structural layers.

GTK / Spinelli: Spektroliitti ↗

A question for you

The colourful inner life of spectrolite is the title of a planned stone meditation. Its question is: what familiar thing could you look at from a different perspective today?

Try noticing one thing

Look at a stone or its picture. Choose one detail: a band, colour, shape or surface. Stay with it for a moment. What did you notice? You can also use an imagined stone.

Then consider where you want to direct your attention next. The exercise does not have to produce a particular feeling. You decide whether it was useful to you.

Happiness stones — try it now

Four short questions explore different sides of feeling good. Your choices suggest a stone metaphor, a story and an optional experiment. You may change your answers or choose another stone.
